I came accross an interesting post by a guy who was looking for the right job. You may find it interesting, too. Here's the story of a guy from Monster... Yes, that Monster. :-)

When I walked into Monster four years ago, I knew I fitted here. Not just because I had the skills for the position, but the culture and the corporate attitude just fit me. I had gone on many interviews in companies with very different cultures. I even went on a second interview at Boston Scientific - if there is one thing I am not, it is someone who would fit in with a bunch of scientists.

A lot of factors led to my desperate attempt to find a 9-to-5 job. I had worked in the restaurant industry for about 10 years, and I was burnt. I wanted out, and I was willing to do anything to have a Saturday night off and not have to listen to a customer complain about his cold soup.

Now, when I'm looking back, I am thankful to all the hiring managers who had the foresight to see through my “yes” attitude. Even though I was sitting in the interview not 100 percent sure I wanted the job, I kept saying “yes I’d love to work here, yes I fit in, and yes - please hire me.”

Something's changed when I found the right job - I didn’t have to fake it. When I said yes, I meant it, and I started to stress that they wouldn’t want me. I was no longer worried about just getting a job. I wanted to work here, and that’s how I knew it was the right fit.

Looking for a job that meets all of your basic requirements of a good paycheck and a challenging role is important, but it’s just as essential to find a company that fits you. I know now if I hadn’t listened to those hoofbeats, I might very well be working with some wild, scientific zebras.

Have a jolly time finding a job tha fits your needs. ;-)
